The Choice Home Warranty claim process is as follows:

  1. Make a claim by phone or online through your customer portal account.
  2. Choice Home Warranty will begin contacting service providers upon receiving your claim. Within 48 hours you should receive the name and contact information of a contractor, as well as a confirmed appointment time.
  3. The contractor will come and perform the requested service. You will pay the $85 service fee.

For the first time, I had to use my warranty service for a leaking water pipe. I was impressed that there were several ways to contact Choice - online, telephone, emails. Within a day, CHoice had lined up a company to fix my leak and within another day, the company had contacted me to set up my appointment. The company assigned was rated 4.6 out of 5 starts - I was grateful since my last warranty company assigned a repair company with a 1.6 rating and it took 9 days to get to my house to fix my problem. The repair company for my leak came as they said they would and fixed my leak quickly and professionally. I was very pleased with everything - the interactions with Choice, the timing and friendliness of the repair company, and the follow up by Choice.

Mark and Kaylon, the two guys that came to service my water heater did a very good job. They were on time, checked everything out, found the problem, even checked with their manager to verify their findings. They fixed the problem and checked to make sure everything was working right, cleaned up and left. These young men were the best servicemen that have ever come to fix something at my home. I paid for 7 years and am several years into the contract and the contractors have been below scale until now. I finally got something fixed.

I've only had Choice Home Warranty about 2 months. In that short time, both my refrigerator (icemaker) and stovetop were in need of repair after an energy surge. Not sure it caused the icemaker problem, but definitely did the stove. They sent repairmen out in a very timely manner (Frigidaire) and as soon as parts were obtained, it was fixed. It's terrible to be out of ice in Florida with the type temperatures we're having now, so was very happy to get my ice back.

I like being able to call for service and I don't have to search and check references of service company. I like that if my appliances or systems can't be repaired, they will be replaced, or a cash offer will be made. I don't like that it takes 30 days to receive replacement or cash. Being without a vital, essential part of your home, 30 days is a long time.

The fan motor recently went out on the outdoor portion of my AC system. I called on Saturday and they had a technician out on Tuesday. I was lucky that summer had not started yet, otherwise we would’ve had to get a hotel. I’m hoping that if I need them again they can get someone here much sooner. That’s my only gripe. I always receive a response from Choice within 24 hours after submitting a claim. For small projects, this is definitely a relief. The vendors are generally busy but good, except Sears Home Services (very unreliable and a lot of employees seem not happy). Takes too long to get a technician out every time I’ve had to do a claim. Usually have to wait anywhere from 3-5 days just to get someone to come out. Choice denied my claim to repair a roof leak and recently denied a claim to repair/replace ductwork damaged from normal wear and tear: stating it wasn't normal wear, which it definitely was do to age and normal wear from condensation of the HVAC unit itself.

The home warranty process only works if the warranty company provides their share of the bargain. Availability of service providers is a huge issue. We've had some seamless experiences which were great. However recent needs of plumbing and appliance servicing have been very frustrating. We were 3.5 weeks without a refrigerator in our kitchen due to scheduling a provider which we ended up having to secure ourselves. When he arrived, he had to fill out paperwork to validate the issue and estimated cost for repair. When the repair was done, the labor ended up being higher than what Choice said they would pay so we ended up paying more out-of-pocket than the contracted Choice fee of $65.00. For plumbing, a provider showed up for a recent stoppage that didn't have the equipment to provide the service, so another plumber had to be called. Through exposure to plumbers for several issues, we have learned that the process wasn't just complicated for the homeowner, but also the provider. We've had recommendations for other warranty companies that they prefer because it isn't as complicated on their end as Choice. Our contract is nearing expiration, and we are looking for another provider

I have good experience with two of my three clams. One is microwave replacement and the other is fixing a problem with one of my AC units. But I had a bad experience with one of the claims, that is leaked coil of an AC system. The problem was not fixed and ball was kicking back and forth between customer service and service company. I have been with CHW for a number of years and had np problems until this year. I usually rate 5, but because I had trouble with one of the contractors sent to my home. This person was obviously unskilled and had compassion for his job. He did nothing but looked inside my clean dishwasher, closed the door and said go to home depot and get some dishwasher Cleaner. (What) ???? I have dishwasher Cleaner. I gave it to him, he opened it and (sprayed ) it in my dishwasher, turned it on. Got paid and left. Water started to flow from under the dishwasher. I am upset. It took several days to reach him. Once I reached him.....he arrogantly said "I'm not coming back" call CHW. That got it with me.....CHW sent another contractor, out to find the initial problem. The first contractor really did not know what he was doing. Flooded my dishwasher with suds which caused the water to Sud from under the dishwasher. Other than that CHW has always received a 5 rating for years.

There were two different visits from two different service techs. Both techs were friendly, cordial and efficient with the washer task. First one diagnosed the issue and ordered a drain pump. The second installed the pump. Just about all is great with the Choice Home Warranty except: I would prefer that the appointment time specified on the CHW site would be more precise. In my case when I received the email before the service date (and later went to the site) it specified the appointment time from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It would be better if appointment was narrowed down to a more specific time. As both my wife and I both work we cannot just take a entire day off. But if a more specific time was specified, say for instance 2 PM, then we could leave for our house before the appointment time and be there when the tech arrives as opposed to being at home all day waiting to see what time the tech arrives. Other than that everything else was good.

Unless you live in a large city this is an absolute total waste of your money. They don’t tell you this when you sign up. They can’t seem to get technicians to do service work. I made a claim in February for my washing machine and dishwasher it is not 5/15 and they still haven’t done anything except tell me I can pay for it out of my pocket and they will reimburse me not 100% but to what their fee schedule states they will pay. They continue to take my monthly payment without hesitation though. When you call all tell you is that they will escalate my claim to dispatch to give them 24-48 hrs. I’ve been hearing that excuse since the 2nd week in February. They don’t offer refunds for lack of ability to do their job efficiently. It has cost me over 2k to do laundry at laundromat. With the amount of money I’ve pd them for my policy and it is pocket expenses already I could have purchased new appliances that are covered by them. They don’t replace items as they state they will. Their lack of professionalism is unbelievable. Worst decision I’ve made. Don’t fall for their empty promises and lies.

Everything takes way too long. I need my washer! Now to be told I get a wholesale replacement price is just wrong wrong wrong. If you could get me access to wholesale pricing it might work, but Lowe’s does not offer that to me, so it really is not an ethical equivalent. Paid for two visits for the same problem and neither of the people you sent diagnosed the problem correctly as to the issue with my central air unit. The company who services my units twice a year was able to pinpoint the issue with the compressor. I had to pay for the part and labor. I paid CHW $150 for two visits and had the same problem each time after the techs left. I have no idea what I paid you people for with this mediocre service. I think I should be reimbursed at least for one call for the same issue and for what I had to pay to the company I use for spring and winter maintenance.

I have been a member of CHW since 10 years. The services I have received from CHW have been fair. When reporting an issue (problem) with appliances, the diagnosis of the tech. sent is of primary importance so as to proceed. Microwave bulb which was to be replaced was attended by an electrician who messed the repair by damaging. Since then the m-wave has been irreparably damaged.

This company has been great as far as fixing repair issues when they arise. When it comes to replacing an appliance it’s a different story. Your choice is to take the minimum amount offered and that’s it. They will give you a third of what a new one would cost retail based on their numbers and can’t replace it their selves for that price and drag the process out as long as possible.

It takes long time for choice warrenty to schedule service call plus job assignment company is limited. It was never like this before.5 years back I was very satisfied with Choice warrenty. I am there customer since 1986. If they have more technician this is good home warranty company.

Claim made 4/10/24, repair tech reviewed and ordered parts. Parts received 4/19/24. No return contact or appointment to return repair refrigerator. Called several times to ask for resolve was told message would be sent to repair tech. Still no appointment or call back. Called again was put on a call back cue but no call back. Sent emails and did review claim online. Yesterday did another email and further reviewed claim page, pressed on screen but on no clear “ Press here for help” . Saw next page and to chat. Kept receiving same response after each explanation we were still waiting for repair of our refrigerator . Response was that “ they had information repair was complete. If we had any comments or questions to contact them.” Finally Received response that there were going to review and contact us within an appointment to give them 24 hours. Today I’m waiting for a call back. I’m hopeful that I will get a callback today. If not, please contact me as soon as possible.

I have been a CHW customer for several years now and have only used the service a couple of times for repairs. One of those times they were unable to find someone for service in my area and advised me to find a repairman and they would reimburse me for the charges and I did. Well a couple of weeks ago my AC was not cooling and I reported it late in the afternoon. I have Asthma and several other medical issues and included that in my claims report. I didn't hear anything back except an email that they were going to place the order with a technician. The next morning still nothing. I got someone to come and fix the problem. I called CHW about reimbursement and they told me, "No you will not be reimbursed because we didn't approve it and we are not an emergent service. It's in your contract." The young lady was also very rude about it. I'm sorry but it was hot and I think there should be some exceptions sometimes. In the past I have referred people but I won't again. There are other services. Choose Wisely.

Choice warranty is good however the repair company that they contracted is not good. Until now my I’ve machine is not done due to the parts they ordered was damaged. Now another week or so wait again.. very unsay!

I have only had a couple of claims, nothing major. Delay in getting an appointment though they do allow you to obtain your own repair company and be re-imbursed. Not sure how that would work. My last claim hasn’t gone so well, needed a follow up appointment. Can’t compare Choice to other warranty companies because this is my first experience. Three stars is the best I would do
